About Talking Teenagers

James Sertin and James Shone have been friends for many years having met while they were house parents at Monkton Senior School in Bath. James Sertin stepped down as a house parent in June 2019 but continues as a teacher at the school whilst James Shone left in 2012. James Shone has since taken a change in the direction of his career after being diagnosed with a brain tumour which resulted in a considerable loss of sight. He has set up the charity I Can & I Am and speaks in hundreds of schools each year to parents, staff and pupils about the importance of inflating balloons of self-belief.

The two Jameses both have a passion for the development of potential in young people as well as the wellbeing of each and every individual that they have been responsible for. This has lead to the creation of a series of podcasts designed to help parents and pastoral leaders with some of the key issues of raising teenagers in today’s world.
